while working on Bug #35796 I discovered that new transient windows that open without grabbing the focus appear behind the parent.

the demo opens a main window, after 4 sec a child-window and closes after another 4 sec.

try commenting out line 17:
popup_window.set_focus_on_map (False)
to see the difference.

Is this still an issue with openSUSE 11.0 >= Beta1?

openSUSE 11.0 has been released today. Please give it a try and provide feedback if the issue still can be reproduced with the new openSUSE release. Thanks.
