The graphical greeter just takes place in the upper left corner of the screen and on the right and bottom of the screen it's just displaying the background color.

On the bottom left side, you can see a part of an xconsole in the background of the gdmgreeter. When trying to login the system loads, and you can hear the logon sound, but the display is being deactivated.
