The shutdown sequence stops at "The System will be halted immediately" and doesn't power down anymore after update to kernel 2.6.22.12-0.1. With kernel 2.6.9-0.4 everything worked fine. This computer has an AMD dual core CPU (x64-64).

Bug 344581 looks similar, though it may be premature to assume that these are duplicates.
