Could you be please more verbose and tell us what type of network do you have and how did you set it up?
Comment 4 Cyril Hrubis 2008-01-23 16:32:12 UTC
The question wasn't answered however there are logs to look on.
Comment 5 Michal Zugec 2008-01-24 08:01:30 UTC
From YaST log:

There's no configuration :
... NetworkDevices.ycp:1292 List( ) = [
     "lo"
]

But suddenly something found:
... NetworkDevices.ycp:1023 Device already present: 00:a0:d1:c2:96:37

Because of this your configuration wasn't writen:
... NetworkDevices.ycp:1168 Argument (NetworkDevices::device_name (typ, num)) to add(...) is nil

Can you please do following:
- remove /var/log/YaST2/y2log
- start YaST and try to configure your network card
- attach new /var/log/YaST2/y2log file and content of /etc/sysconfig/network/ifcfg-*
Comment 6 Michal Zugec 2008-01-24 08:07:12 UTC
start YaST from konsole as root: "Y2DEBUG=1 yast2 lan"
Comment 7 Michal Zugec 2008-02-05 10:14:46 UTC

Log files as requested

Well, I have the same problem on OpenSuSE 11.0 Alpha 2, while everythings working in OpenSuSE 10.3. I've attached my logs from just after the installation and the logs as requested in comment #5.

My computer is connected with a LAN which is attached to the internet via a Speedtouch router. Even connections with the LAN fail (10.0.0.138 for example) so it should be a problem with the driver. I use a Acer Aspire 5001 Lmi with the sis900 driver at both 10.3 as 11.0.
Comment 9 Michal Zugec 2008-02-27 10:29:05 UTC
It seems that configuration is ok. Also there are no errors (only about wireless driver - open another bugreport for that).
What about default route (ip r)?
You can't reach 10.0.0.138 on same LAN - what is output from ping? Can you ping it from another machine from same LAN?
Please attach "dmesg" output.
Please attach /var/log/messages - part when you do "rcnetwork restart"

I've got the same situation with alpha2 on laptop Asus Z99Le.
I-net set up through LAN (by NAT). Suse 10.3 have no problems with it.

Alpha2, situation 1
Network setup: via NetworkManager.
Internet test fails, "details" shows 2 strings:
"Begin of yast internet test. End of yast internet test"
When KDE4 starts, n-manager shows 1 option - "offline mode". Yast-Networking shows that device is configured correctly. (KDE3 and Gnome: same result)

Alpha2, situation2
Network setup: via ifup.
Yast test - OK. After installation - i-net access present.

It seems something is wrong with nmanager.

Fresh news.

I've updated alpha2 to latest factory version. Activated nmanager from yast. Results:
//I use static IP configuration
Nmanager shows dhcp activity - "requesting ip address". After reboot knetworkmanager starts too. Both KNM and NM do the same - requesting ip.
Yast > use ifup, nothing changes. Reboot - the same. I-net connection is broken. A little maneuvre helps to resolve the problem - activating dhcp, then disabling.
Next step - I try to apply this hint to NManagers. No result.
