Bugzilla – Bug 361938
pm-utils doesn't work with 2.6.24.2
Last modified: 2008-02-14 19:45:51 UTC
Hi, My base system is openSUSE 10.3 however I'm running a vanilla 2.6.24.2 kernel. I'm running this kernel because: 1) It provides support to hot-swap my battery and DVD drive in my modular bay, 2) When running VirtualBox, I can turn off tickless support (NOHZ=OFF) and suspend-to-disk works. VirtualBox is less taxing on the CPU when tickless support is switched off. Using previous versions of the openSUSE 10.3 Linux kernel, I was not able to do the above. I have not tested with the latest kernel though (2.6.22.17-0.1) Problem ======= I wrote a hook script which resides in /etc/pm/power.d. This script works well when using the stock openSUSE kernels. If I use 2.6.24.2, the script is no longer called when I switch from AC to Battery and vice versa. I realize the answer may be, hey, you're on your own. You're on 2.6.24.2!!! I was hoping there's something I could do so to make pm-utils work. Cheers! Hardware ======== o Dell Precision M4300 More details available if requested
Sorry, I should have tested on 2.6.22.17-0.1 before posting this issue. I just did and the problem is there too. I'm closing this bug and opening on one the latest kernel drop.
