Description Ladislav Michnovic 2008-03-12 09:46:19 UTC
Please split off yast2 entries from the huge update-desktop-files po file.
It would help translators to keep YaST completely translated.

I agree, please do it.

I also think this is a very good idea :-)

Having a "really" big file does not help translators at all because of its unmanageability.

It's just "psychological": people will refuse to translate a bunch of messages but will be pleased to work with a smaller and well organized file.

In addition, I think YaST is the most used tool in openSUSE and having a good translation of all the modules, messages, buttons and explanations will provide a very user-friendly experience for newcomers ;-)

coolo already wrote such a split script: lcn/50-tools/lcn-split-update-desktop-files.sh

I guess we'd better avoid the split_chars, but otherwise I think we should go for it.

Yes, I think that script could work, so in the future we'll focus our work on update-desktop-files-yast

Done--thanks to coolo.
