Since about a week, /etc/init.d/haldaemon (currently hal-0.5.10_git20080319-4, but also previous versions) segfaults for no obvious reason on my setup:

~: /etc/init.d/haldaemon restart
Shutting down HAL daemon                                              done
Starting HAL daemon                                                   failed
Loading CPUFreq modules                                               done

/var/log/messages shows

Mar 28 07:58:51 linux klogd: hald[4497]: segfault at 0 ip 411a77 sp 7fff1974c460 error 4 in hald[400000+53000]
