Description Matthias Bach 2008-03-31 19:33:52 UTC
I have an old MaxDATA PC a PIII 600 Mhz on an Asus CUBX Motherboard. The PC
has a Mitsumi FX4820 CD-ROM drive.

After installing OpenSUSE 10.3 the computer keeps ejecting any not activly used
CD after a view Minutes. It seems to be possible to keep it from unmounting
and ejecting the CD by using the CD as the current working directoy, but as
this is a KDE PC where usually no console is used this is not a real
workaround. In addition the problem seems to only appear if a used is logged into KDE. If the computer idles on the login screen the drive keeps the CD inside.

Does it happen if you have no applications running? Does it happen if you turn off and unload everything in 'kcmshell kcmkded' (remember to restore the settings there afterwards)?
Comment 3 Matthias Bach 2008-04-25 23:47:00 UTC
The problem seems to not appear if all kde services are unloaded with 'kcmshell kcmkded'. That however requires me to kill kicker in before, as otherwise I am unable to stop the 'Media-Managment?' (Medienverwaltung). If I start only that service, not starting kicker again, the problem appears again. However it seems to take longer (60 min vs. 10 min) for the problem to appear.
Comment 4 Matthias Bach 2008-07-22 23:24:59 UTC
I updated the system to 11.0 and the problem seems to be fixed.
