Bugzilla – Bug 382807
failed to detect CD drive - on HP dx7300 with SATA DVD+RW
Last modified: 2008-05-07 20:36:16 UTC
After default kernel image selection (pressing enter) kernel decompressed and initial loading proceeded fine - until: several messages: - drive not ready yet and than finally failed to detect CD drive since (gnome suse11B1) CD boots fine on other machine (Dell) i suspect the problem with sata connection (currently on this HP machine I have Fedora 8 and Suse 10.3 working fine) however i tried two different drives - original HP ligtscribe DVD model and LG DVD writer model SH-S203 the motherboard has no PATA connectors at all (only four SATA) - maybe this is a problem ? this hp chipset is based on intel Q965 model specs: http://h20195.www2.hp.com/V2/GetDocument.aspx?docid=0900a5a5816778f6&cc=th&lc=en perhaps a similar bug is: https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=375836 I do not know how to pass (with this beta) options to kernel because when i type linux [enter] it fails to load
please boot http://download.opensuse.org/distribution/SL-OSS-factory/inst-source/boot/boot.iso and see if you can get a hwinfo --cdrom out of the rescue system.
hello already posted that info to bug: https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=381671 perhaps they one should be merged ?
