Laptop Sony VAIO S5M : wrong screen resolution after boot into KDE
Last modified: 2008-05-12 00:27:08 UTC
Using openSUSE 11.0 KDE boot CD to boot into KDE, the screen resolution is only 1024x768. Screen is normally at 1280x800. Trying change the screen resolution doesn't work. - In YAST/Hardware/Graphics Card ... dialog - Changed Monitor to 1280x800@60Hz - Run Test successfully + saved. - No effect (so far)! - restarted KDE/X11 by logging out and back into it, no changes, still wrong resolution again. - CTRL + ALT + BS and logging in : resolution right. Hardware: Sony Vaio VGN S5M Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce Go 6400 (0x168)

Looks like the native resolution of your internal panel has not been detected, but you can change this already during installation. > - restarted KDE/X11 by logging out and back into it, no changes, still wrong > resolution again. > - CTRL + ALT + BS and logging in : resolution right. Looks like you're using kdm4, where the default for TerminateServer is false instead of true. This is a duplicate. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 381672 ***
