Bugzilla – Bug 389371
zypper dup broke boot ...
Last modified: 2008-05-14 07:30:40 UTC
I had a nicely booting system of ~Beta2 vintage; I ran "zypper dup" to factory, I re-booted and grub fails to load the kernel for me :-) not ideal. I attach logs of various kinds; hope they help.

how does your /boot look like? And your log files do not really say what problem you see
good point: when I boot it says: root (hd0,5) Filesystem type ie ext2fs, partition type 0x83 kernel /boot/vmlinuz root=/dev/disk/by-id/scsi-<long>-part6 resume=/dev/sda5 splash=silent vga=0x305 [Linux-bzImage, setup=0x3000, size=0x2047a0] initrd /boot/initrd Error 14: File not found Press any key to continue... ~almost the same for 'safe mode'.

YaST is not involved at all, this is issue of perl-Bootloader.
ok, you have no initrd - you could have said that earlier :) *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 389177 ***
