Description Christian Boltz 2008-05-12 19:54:36 UTC
from Bug #386513:

opensuseupdater-kde constantly tells me "refresh failed" and shows the yellow exclamation mark. When I start it from a konsole, the following error message is displayed:
jan@linux:~> opensuseupdater-kde
jan@linux:~> Unable to refresh repositories because
/usr/sbin/zypp-refresh-wrapper helper programm is not set SUID root.
This problem might be solved by setting 'File Permissons' in YaST 'Local
/Security' tab to 'easy' or by modifying /etc/permissions.local
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

The problem with this: opensuseupdater only shows "Refresh failed" in its tooltip, which is a quite useless message. (Nearly nobody will see the error message in the konsole.)

-> opensuseupdater should display the detailed error message ("This problem might...") in its tooltip (and main window). This is the only place where the average user can find it.

fixed.
