Bugzilla – Bug 393002
kernel failed to boot...
Last modified: 2008-05-21 10:31:39 UTC
I upgraded my kernel to factory as of last night; ran mkinitrd manually; re-booted this morning and it panics on boot. My screen says [ having removed the vga=... kernel parameter ]: esume=/dev/md0 splash=silent [Linux-bzImage, setup=0x3000, size=0x217578] initrd /initrd [Linux-initrd @ 0x37a8c000, 0x5634da bytes] Probing EDD (edd=off to disable)... ok Decompressing Linux... done. Booting the kernel. [cursor blinking ] and at the bottom of the screen: Kernel alive kernel direct mapping tables up to 100000000 @ 8000-d000 PANIC: early exception 0e rip 10:300 error 10 cr2 300 When I get the machine back; I'll let you know the kernel version etc.
The failsafe kernel boots - thankfully; /boot/vmlinuz points to vmlinuz-2.6.25.4-2-debug from kernel-debug-2.6.25.4-2 which has head RPM changelog of: * Fri May 16 2008 gregkh@suse.de - Update config files. - patches.drivers/usb-add-option-hso-driver.patch: USB: add ... downgrading prio., since (presumably) only applies to the debug kernel.
