Description Harald Koenig 2008-05-22 23:25:49 UTC
the new iwl3945 driver no longer supportes the LED(s) so there is no information for the user if wlan is on/working/...

the old ipw3945 did support the LED (using an IBM T60), so that's a clear step backwards from 10.3 to 11.0.

using the compat-wireless driver adds LED support and works great for me -- please add/update !!

The iwl3945 driver in 10.3 failed the same way ;-)

Nevertheless, having LED support would be nice.

but in 10.3 for my T60 th ipw driver was automatically selected and everything worked fine for me as user. I didn't even know about iwl3945 before starting 11.0 beta-tests. and now that ipw driver is gone (I still wonder why _now_)...

compat-wireless-2008-05-22.tar.bz2 _is_ nice ;-)

Intel does not support the ipw3945 driver anymore and iwl3945 is in the mainline kernel already.

iwl3945's LED works fine on my nc6400 (both LEDs - on wifi button and on the edge of laptop).
