Bugzilla – Bug 393811
iwl3945 doesn't support LED
Last modified: 2008-05-26 14:24:16 UTC
the new iwl3945 driver no longer supportes the LED(s) so there is no information for the user if wlan is on/working/... the old ipw3945 did support the LED (using an IBM T60), so that's a clear step backwards from 10.3 to 11.0. using the compat-wireless driver adds LED support and works great for me -- please add/update !! more details in https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=376742#c14 and https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=376742#c18
The iwl3945 driver in 10.3 failed the same way ;-) Nevertheless, having LED support would be nice.
(In reply to comment #1 from Andreas Jaeger) > The iwl3945 driver in 10.3 failed the same way ;-) but in 10.3 for my T60 th ipw driver was automatically selected and everything worked fine for me as user. I didn't even know about iwl3945 before starting 11.0 beta-tests. and now that ipw driver is gone (I still wonder why _now_)... > Nevertheless, having LED support would be nice. compat-wireless-2008-05-22.tar.bz2 _is_ nice ;-)

(In reply to comment #2 from Harald Koenig) > and now that ipw driver is gone (I still wonder why _now_)... Intel does not support the ipw3945 driver anymore and iwl3945 is in the mainline kernel already.
iwl3945's LED works fine on my nc6400 (both LEDs - on wifi button and on the edge of laptop).
