Last modified: 2008-05-28 06:41:21 UTC
manual installation via ssh. installation gets all the way through to the point where software packages are about to be installed, when yast window dies. Error in login window is: error: cannot open Packages index using db3 - No such file or directory (2) Below is the whole contents of the ssh login window: ------------------------------------------------------ Password: openSUSE Installation Welcome to the inst-sys on 129.43.1.108 2.6.25.4-6-default x86_64 run yast to start the installation inst-sys:~ # yast Probing connected terminal... Initializing virtual console... Found a screen terminal on /dev/pts/0 (148 columns x 42 lines). *** Starting YaST2 *** error: cannot open Packages index using db3 - No such file or directory (2) *** Preparing SSH installation for reboot *** *** NOTE: after reboot, you have to reconnect and call *** *** /usr/lib/YaST2/startup/YaST2.ssh *** inst-sys:~ #
Created attachment 218491 [details] y2log from installation attempt the problem appears to have something to do with the repositories added during installation. I selected the opensuse repositories via radio button, and accepted the defaults, which included both the NON-OSS and OSS repositories but not the debug repository
The "cannot open Packages index using db3" error may be a red herring. I attempted the same install, this time *without* adding any repositories. I got the same error on the screen but the yast installation did not die.
