Bugzilla – Bug 406343
error during printer installation - printer queue failed - yast, hp-toolbox
Last modified: 2008-10-02 12:19:19 UTC
Hello, I have had a 64 bit Suse 10.3 with an HP psc2105 USB printer worked fine as printer and scanner, the hp toolbox has also worked fine. After update to 11.0 printing and scanning still works. The HP toolbox fails. Trying to configure the device via YAST fails ("Beim Speichern von Warteschlange psc2100 series ist ein Fehler aufgetreten. Wählen sie das Druckermodell neu aus"). Trying hp-setup (as root) also fails with the error: Printer queue setup failed. Please restart CUPS and try again. Thanks for your help Reiner
Hello, did you try restart cups system ("/etc/init.d/cups restart") ? Thanks
Please reopen the bug if you can provide the needed information, thanks.
I have answered you a long time ago! > > Restarting does not fix it! hp-setup also claims that it can not install > the printer queue! > I have removed and added the printer several times via CUPS. Printing (and > scanning works fine), Yast is useless (not only here!). HP tools support is > broken. I do not really need it so you can keep the bug closed. If you are using hplib to drive you printer, this bug is most likely duplicate of bug #409199. Did solution from this bug fixed you problems?
I have tried it: ./configure --disable-network-build make su -l make install this was ok but hp-setup can not find ppd file, so I give it manually but it's the same error (Unable to setup printer queue). By the way why needs hp-ttolbox a printer queue. For displaying the ink state and clening it does not need it. Reiner
There is almost no information which is useful to find out what the actual error is. E.g. in comment #0 "The HP toolbox fails" is useless without more details. The hp-toolbox works for me. I cannot reproduce the issue. I guess it might be a duplicate of bug #386853 in particular becaue of its attachment #212440 [details]. This issue is described in the openSUSE 11.0 release notes. Please read them. If it is something else, reopen it but provide more details what exactly me must do to reproduce the issue. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 386853 ***
