Description wolfgang oberle 2008-07-10 12:45:49 UTC
When calling
sax2 -c 0,1 or
sax2 -c 1,0
I get the result written in the above summary.
I can't configure and use my two graphic cards together,
as it was still possible with SuSE 10.3.
# sax2 -p
Chip: 0  is -> Intel i845                       00:02:0 0x8086 0x2562 PCI intel
Chip: 1  is -> Matrox MGA 2164W                 02:05:0 0x102b 0x051b AGP mga
#
linux-p4kg:~ # sax2 -c 0,1

Known issue. Either 'sax2 -r -c 0' or 'sax2 -r -c 1' should work for you (depends on which chipset is the primary one).

Sorry the workaround you proposed doesn't work.
May be I misunderstood it.
I would like to use both monitors TOGETHER.
But sax2/yast2 only offers me one Display.
So I can't combine both Displays.
It only works fine either with the intel onboard chip
OR with the matrox AGP card.

In SuSE 10.3 I succeeded in creating a xorg.conf for two
Displays by calling
sax2 -c 0,1
But in 11.0 this leads to the above described 'buffer overflow'
Certainly because the intel driver has a problem.

I'm sorry, but multicard support is more or less abondonned upstream. I suggest to replace your old Matrox card with a newer Multihead card and disable the intel onboard chip if possible.
