Description David Martin 2008-07-27 07:35:51 UTC
Get this message when I leave the system up overnight. I gather that this is an automatic update. On these instances no updates are offered.

I have this too from times to times. At first, I thought it was due to a closed connection to Internet, but recently, I saw this can happen with an Internet connection alive too. Currently, I have a "Getting update lists failed - Failed to get updates" pop-up window open, and it refuse to close when I click on the close gadget.

Comment from Vance Baarda in bug #395445 :
"Update-test repo (http://download.opensuse.org/update/11.0-test) has the fix."

There are indeed newer version of PackageKit and gnome-packagekit but how safe is it for a simple user to add a /test/ repository.
Can I assume that those RPMs will be available as an update to all users after a defined test period ?

(It seems there are many duplicates about this bug. Is this report considered a duplicate of bug #395445 ?)

Yes -- about 20 duplicates by now.

Yes -- see http://en.opensuse.org/Bugs:Most_Annoying_Bugs_11.0_dev for a workaround.
