Bugzilla – Bug 412520
During installation of OpenSuSE 11.0 my monitor was not found
Last modified: 2008-07-29 22:30:22 UTC
Created attachment 230195 [details] File containing 3 text files During the install of OpenSuSE 11.0, the monitor was not found during the HW configuration. The graphics card was seen and configured, as was the sound card. After install 'completed' I logged into the machine as root and executed 'sax2 -a' from the prompt. Sax2 started to execute but then failed with a long listing where the program failed and I was returned to the command prompt. My machine has two graphics cards, one on the motherboard and the second, ATI Radeon 8500. The monitor is a ViewSonic E70f. To configure the monitor, I issues the command 'sax2 -c 1' which found correctly the the monitor and allowed me to configure my display. After issuing, init 5, I then had the graphics login, and a KDE 4 environment I can use. I have attached /var/log/Sax.log and /var/log/Xorg.99.log as well as the output of 'hwinfo --gfxcard' executed at 'init 3'
What's the output of 'hwinfo --gfxcard'. Please do the following. init 3 sax2 and attach /var/log/SaX.log (again).

For whatever reason SaX.log is truncated again. :-( Marcus, I don't understand this. Peter, please add at least the output of 'hwinfo --monitor'.

Ah. I understand. The monitor is not the issue here. The SaX2 segfault due to dualcard setup is. This is another duplicate. 'sax2 -r -c 0' or 'sax2 -r -c 1' should work for you. Depends on which one is the primary graphics card. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 381644 ***
