Description Doug Glenn 2008-10-11 13:05:55 UTC
In running Yast2, software management, selecting software packages, all packages, the right clicking in the package list to 'All in this list, update if newer version is available' (not install, or update all).

For about two weeks now I have been getting errors about libqt4 not being provided. Yesterday, not being sure if it was something I had added, I choose to remove all KDE4 packages to try and eliminate the problem. That made the system somewhat unstable with Ksysguard errors about being unable to connect to localhost. So I opted to reinstall kde4, and hoped that this issue would be taken care of after a fresh installation of v4.

Not so. After the initial re-installation of the KDE4 environment, attempting to update my existing packages resulted in this error again.

I have attached :conflicts.txt" so you can observe the errors for yourself and try to figure out why these are occuring.

I close the bug as a duplicate of #431466. Feel free to reopen it if adding the KDE:Qt repo don't solve it :)

KDE:QT is part of the KDE branch marked unstable and not to be mixed with the STABLE line of repositories according to the notes on the repository page.

How would adding this fix the problem if I am only using the Stable branch? How did this get crossed over into the stable branch? Is this a problem?

According to the mail you send to me a few hour ago :

"I looked over the "duplicate" message, but there is not a KDE:QT
repository option in the community selections.  I have Factory,
Backports and KDE4 selected.  This isn't coming from Packman, it is
coming from the default Opensuse repositories.  Any other suggestions?
None of those in the bug information corrected the issue.  I
deselected all but the Suse repositories to eliminate an outside
influence.

I'm open to suggestions before I go back and attempt to reopen mine,
or the other to get a resolution."

You have added the KDE:KDE4:Factory:Desktop repo, provided by http://opensuse-community.org/openSUSE_110_Community_Additional.xml. This repo is unstable, actually under heavy developpment for 11.1 ("Factory"), and require the KDE:Qt repo as a strong requirement.

I pointed the problem to some opensuse-community.org members (but this is a problem unrelated to your description problem).
