Bugzilla – Bug 437454
backlight on Lenovo X61s not adjustable
Last modified: 2008-11-23 00:04:10 UTC
I expect that the Brightness buttons work but they do not work at all. I see: # dmesg |grep thinkpad thinkpad_acpi: ThinkPad ACPI Extras v0.21 thinkpad_acpi: http://ibm-acpi.sf.net/ thinkpad_acpi: ThinkPad BIOS 7NETB6WW (2.16 ), EC 7MHT25WW-1.03 thinkpad_acpi: Lenovo ThinkPad X61s, model 766929G thinkpad_acpi: radio switch found; radios are enabled thinkpad_acpi: This ThinkPad has standard ACPI backlight brightness control, supported by the ACPI video driver thinkpad_acpi: Disabling thinkpad-acpi brightness events by default... thinkpad_acpi: setting the hotkey mask to 0x00ffffff is likely not the best way to go about it thinkpad_acpi: please consider using the driver defaults, and refer to up-to-date thinkpad-acpi documentation thinkpad_acpi: Standard ACPI backlight interface available, not loading native one.

Please try to use brightness_enable=1 param for the thinkpad_acpi module. Please also check for BIOS updates. You should find brightness changes in the BIOS changelog, be sure you got them.
I'm using the latest BIOS. brightness_enable=1 does not help.
No time right now, can I have a look at such a machine next week? Mobile team? Hmm, maybe it's the same than on this X300 (from Holger) I'll look at.
Yes, come to my office anytime.
