Description Justin Haygood 2008-10-22 15:13:41 UTC
How to reproduce
1. Set up an openSUSE system to use Active Directory authentication using YaST
2. Log in to GNOME using your domain credentials
3. Verify that you have a Kerberos ticket by opening up Terminal and typing in "klist".
4. Browse the network.
5. Find a server on the same domain and connect to it.

Expected Results:
You should see all shares accessible to you, and be able to open and manipulate them without any password prompts

Actual Results:
You are prompted for a username/password/domain prompt.

The upstream bug for this is:

http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=524485

It looks like the upstrea patches are working well now. They've been tested by multiple people. I'm going to apply the nautilus, gtk and gvfs patches.
Comment 2 Hans Petter Jansson 2008-12-05 07:40:52 UTC
After more testing, I've concluded that the GVFS patch seems to break browsing on some non-AD SMB setups. I'm holding it back until I can investigate some more.
Comment 3 Hans Petter Jansson 2008-12-05 08:02:04 UTC
I've only submitted the Nautilus patch for now.
Comment 4 Hans Petter Jansson 2008-12-05 08:35:09 UTC
I submitted two of the GTK patches for bug #445362.
Comment 5 Hans Petter Jansson 2009-01-13 20:50:51 UTC
I submitted the GVFS patch in the end, since it seems to work for everyone else. Misconfigured SMB environment on my end?
Comment 6 Hans Petter Jansson 2009-01-15 13:56:57 UTC
Looks like the GTK+ patches never made it into the distro for some reason. At least I don't have them here. Exciting.

This is what I submitted:

-------------------------------------------------------------------
Thu Dec 4 22:28:40 CST 2008 - hpj@novell.com

- Added gtk2-filechooser-mount-parent.patch (bgo#524485 bgo#545980
  bnc#437780).
- Added gtk2-filechooser-network-browsing.patch (bgo524485
  bgo561494 bnc437780).
- These patches from upstream fix a constellation of bugs leading
to a lack of arbitrary URI support in the GTK+ file chooser.
Comment 7 Hans Petter Jansson 2009-01-15 13:58:22 UTC
Federico, could you close this once you've fixed the file chooser bugs (likely the same problem) you were working on?

Comment 10 JP Rosevear 2009-01-15 17:10:54 UTC
This changelog is already in for SLE 11 and factory, it just didn't make RC2 and was stuck on review in G:F for a while.

We should ship this fix to 11.1 along with Federico's fix.
Comment 11 Phil Mills 2009-01-30 08:21:39 UTC
For the record, this bug is also widely covered in Ubuntu and Mint forums - as a workaround you can install SMB4K, which will show you all the shares no problem.
Comment 12 Federico Mena Quintero 2009-02-12 16:24:15 UTC
Oops, I forgot to submit these patches to 11.1. Doing so now...
Comment 13 Federico Mena Quintero 2009-02-12 16:49:23 UTC
Submitted with submitreq id 6708 for openSUSE:11.1.

Anja, could I please have a swampid for this? This is a couple of patches from SLE-11 that didn't get put in 11.1. I wonder if I can combine them with the same request I made yesterday on bug #355402 :)
Comment 14 Federico Mena Quintero 2009-02-12 17:01:49 UTC
Submitted for 11.1.
Comment 15 Dirk Mueller 2009-03-05 17:05:28 UTC
we still need a working submission for 11.1.
Comment 17 Federico Mena Quintero 2009-03-09 19:58:24 UTC
