Bugzilla – Bug 441151
Eeepc 901/1000 webcam is not working in OpenSuse 11.0/11.1
Last modified: 2008-11-19 12:00:05 UTC
The webcam of the famous asus eeepc 901/1000 (CNF7129) is not working in apps like kopete, cheese or webkam. Here's what I get if I launch webkam from a terminal: VIDIOC_ENUMSTD: Invalid argument VIDIOC_ENUM_FMT: Invalid argument VIDIOC_ENUMSTD: Invalid argument VIDIOC_ENUM_FMT: Invalid argument VIDIOC_S_INPUT: Device or resource busy VIDIOC_S_INPUT: Device or resource busy VIDIOC_REQBUFS error 16, Device or resource busy VIDIOC_STREAMON error 16, Device or resource busy VIDIOC_DQBUF error 16, Device or resource busy VIDIOC_DQBUF error 16, Device or resource busy VIDIOC_DQBUF error 16, Device or resource busy VIDIOC_DQBUF error 16, Device or resource busy ...goes on... the strange thing is that it works in skype even if the picture is very very dark...this device uses uvcvideo drivers and the problem is there both in opensuse 11 (kernel 2.6.25) and in the upcoming 11.1 (2.6.27). It works fine in ubuntu hardy/intrepid and in fedora9/10. Not tested with mandriva and debian. I think it's very important to conquer asus eeepcs for 11.1...there are really a lot of them around these days...
Cheese works for me with beta 4.6 on both 701 and 901 even if the picture is very dark.
mmm...that's strange....last time I checked I remember it didn't work...well, I'm on a fresh 11.1 beta4 kde installation and the problem is still here. Can somebody with a 901 and kde try his webcam with a kde4 app like kopete? If I go in the kopete config dialog in the webcam section all I see is a green static screen. No problem in Skype (except the picture is really too dark and there's no way to change this...)
