Bugzilla – Bug 441531
KDE4 flashes black every 9 seconds
Last modified: 2008-11-04 16:19:43 UTC
On a new installation of the x86_64 version of openSUSE 11.1 Beta4, on a Dell Latitude D620, KDE4 flashes black approximately every 9 seconds. Checking /var/log/Xorg.0.log, the following lines repeat at the same time: (II) intel(0): I2C bus "CRTDDC_A" initialized. (II) intel(0): I2C device "CRTDDC_A:ddc2" registered at address 0xA0. (II) intel(0): I2C device "CRTDDC_A:ddc2" removed. (II) intel(0): I2C bus "CRTDDC_A" removed. (II) intel(0): EDID vendor "DEL", prod id 40993 This installation of Beta4 was performed with the laptop undocked. While undocked, this problem did not occur. After docking the laptop (into a port replicator), and attaching an external monitor, keyboard and mouse, I reconfigured X using sax2. Now, the external monitor (Dell 2007FP) experiences this flash or flicker every 9 seconds. The Dell 2007FP is set to use 1600x1200 as its resolution. The internal LCD of the laptop uses 1440x900 (as seen in the above messages). After seeing this, I opened the laptop and saw that the laptop screen is still enabled. With both screens open, I can see the external monitor experiences the flash, but the internal screen does not. I also thought that my internal screen was disabled in my xorg.conf, but that does not seem to turn the monitor off while docked.
