Description Henning Schnoor 2008-11-08 18:42:53 UTC
I'm using SuSE Factory, and kupdateapplet does not detect that there are updates available. I manually ran the "check for upgrades" test, and the applet did not find any patches or upgrades ("show upgrades" is selected in the options). When I tried to find upgrades with YaST, there were 960 new packages.

It's probably been about a week since I did the last update to Factory (my version identifies itself as beta 4).

kupdateapplet with packagekit plugin doesn't show updated packages but patches. Are you talking about packages or patches that aren't displayed?

Does "pkcon get-updates" report updates that aren't shown by kupdateapplet?

You are right, the problem was using packagekit and not zypper, with zypper the upgrades are displayed (and your query reports the empty list). Thanks for the hint, and sorry to have wasted your time!

I'll mark the bug INVALID.

Thanks, Henning

The bug seems to be there in openSuSE 11.1 RC1, even when I select zypper plugin: There are no upgrades (of packages, not patches) shown, although YaST displays them. The problem remains after rebooting the machine and manually selecting "Check Now". This is a clean fresh install of RC1 from the installation DVD.

Am I doing something wrong (again :-)), or is this a problem with the updater application?
