entering the grub menu at boot there is a beep in 11.1b4 which might be annoying when booting e.g. in conferences etc.

why does grub beep ?

how can this beep be disabled ?

I'm running 11.1-b4 x64_64 on a Lenovo Thinkpad T61p...
