During install process I selected other/ kde3 menu.
After install process I have kde4 menu.
I repeated three times the same operation.

I have the same problem on a rather old laptop (purchased in 2004).
Will try on modern 2 core x86_64 as well.
I tried changing DISPLAYMANAGER="kdm4" to DISPLAYMANAGER="kdm3" in /etc/sysconfig/displaymanager but that did not make any difference.

Dunno what's "kde menu" for you but it's either a duplicate of 450169 or 450161
