Description William Trotter 2008-12-19 19:50:14 UTC
After installing openSUSE 11.1, I am unable to mount
the CD/DVD drive. Neither K3b nor Braser sees this drive.
It is working since I used it to do the install, and I took the
openSUSE 11.1 off and went back to Fedora 10 out of frustration.
Fedora 10 sees the drive and is able to use it.

I've seen quite similar problem, for me adding user to group disk fixed this issue. Please if this fix helps you.

Hi folks,
I am highly convinced that this plaster will help, but it is no fix. IMHO there is a severe bug in the current hal-implementation of opensuse 11.1, preventing many devices like CD, DVD, Scanners, whatsoever from being accessed. By any means adding the user to the group disk will help - given that the device is a member of that group what I assume.

See parallel (but not identical issues in Bug #408252). I think this bug is a duplicate of #408252, being mirrored in several access issue problems with different devices from dvd-units to scanners.

Therefore I'll set this bug as duplicate of #408252
