Bugzilla – Bug 462966
inserted drive is detected but write permissions are not assigned to cosole user
Last modified: 2009-01-09 08:26:36 UTC
When I insert a DVD drive into my laptop it's detected and creates /dev/sr0, etc, but no permissions are given to the console user to write to the drive. Probably if I log out and back in again I will have permissions, but they ought to be given when the drive is plugged in.
Please , provide some info: hwinfo output DVD drive model and name
Oops, I should have been more clear about that. I do get enough permissions to read but not enough to write.
Created attachment 263224 [details] hwinfo log as requested Lenovo DVD-MULTI on a ThinkPad T61 (all-intel version) Hitachi-LG Data Storage DVDRAM GSA-U10N
Andrew, have you tried following? On http://en.opensuse.org/HAL#Debugging.2FBugreporting (Permission problems)
I hadn't but ConsoleKit is running and I have a session cookie set. Also this is not the kind of permissions problem described in that section. Mounting works fine, it's burning a CD that doesn't work.
Andrew, this problem only appears as console user?
