Bugzilla – Bug 465184
By default, audio CD's will not automount (Gnome)
Last modified: 2009-01-14 08:15:05 UTC
User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.9.0.5) Gecko/2008121300 SUSE/3.0.5-1.1 Firefox/3.0.5 Build Identifier: After a default build audio CD's will not work in Gnome. Need to edit group membership for users who need to use audio CD's, adding them to the 'disk' group. Error reported (when broken) is to the effect that /dev/sr0 could not be read. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.Insert audio cd (with default user) 2.Error will come up saying that 'could not read from /dev/sr0' 3. Expected Results: CD should mount, showing on desktop.
Not a YaST issue, adding users to 'audio' group should not be needed.
(In reply to comment #1) > Not a YaST issue, adding users to 'audio' group should not be needed. Just to clarify, it was the 'disk' group but you're right that it shouldn't be needed. I can't logout & back in at the moment to remove myself from the group but I will do so later or tomorrow and post log excerpts.
It's rather an issue of HAL and co. Danny?
Never add users to group disk! *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 408252 ***
