Created attachment 266124 [details] dmesg output User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux x86_64; en-US; rv:1.9.1b2) Gecko/20081208 SUSE/3.1b2-3.7 Firefox/3.1b2 A week ago I've upgraded my development desktop from openSUSE 11.0 to 11.1. Browsing dmesg output today I found two kernel error reports related to reiserfs which seem to originate in the oracle process. The relevant portion of dmesg output is attached. Reproducible: Couldn't Reproduce Steps to Reproduce: 1. 2. 3. Actual Results: So far I do not know how to trigger the issue. Expected Results: no kernel bug reports in dmesg output.
any chance to exclude heci and nvidia modules for a while to see if this makes a difference? these are either binary only or external modules and may have issues which can perhaps be related with this problem
It seems that heci is actually a openSUSE-supplied kernel module - see below. I've unloaded it as you requested. This will probably stop the messages. I'll let you know whether this makes any difference. $ rpm -qf /lib/modules/2.6.27.7-9-default/updates/heci.ko intel-iamt-heci-kmp-default-3.1.0.31_2.6.27.7_9.1-2.34 $ rpm -qi intel-iamt-heci-kmp-default-3.1.0.31_2.6.27.7_9.1-2.34 Name : intel-iamt-heci-kmp-default Relocations: (not relocatable) Version : 3.1.0.31_2.6.27.7_9.1 Vendor: openSUSE Release : 2.34 Build Date: Fri 05 Dec 2008 03:44:04 GMT Install Date: Mon 12 Jan 2009 15:38:52 GMT Build Host: build17 Group : System/Kernel Source RPM: intel-iamt-heci-3.1.0.31-2.34.src.rpm Size : 122279 License: BSD 3-Clause; GPL v2 only; Dual BSD3/GPLv2 only Signature : RSA/8, Fri 05 Dec 2008 03:44:34 GMT, Key ID b88b2fd43dbdc284 Packager : http://bugs.opensuse.org Summary : Updated heci kernel module for Intel iAMT Description : Provide heci.ko kernel module supporting the Intel(R) iAMT.

it appears it`s not heci related. take a look at the duplicate and the other dupes linked with that.
