Bugzilla – Bug 468638
GUI NFS Installation will Fail and revert to a TEXT Installation IF NO DHCP Services are offered on the LAN
Last modified: 2009-02-07 06:02:39 UTC
User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux x86_64; en-GB; rv:1.9.0.5) Gecko/2008121300 SUSE/3.0.5-0.1 Firefox/3.0.5 If you try to perform an NFS Installation, where NO DHCP services are offered on the LAN, GUI Installation will fail and revert to text - 100% reproducible. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Remove ALL DHCP Services IF they are offered on the LAN 2. Boot from Install DVD and select installation source as NFS 3. Enter into GUI, NFS Server IP and exported directory information. 4. GUI Installation WILL fail and Time out and be replaced by Text Installation with additional issues to be assigned by other bug reports. Actual Results: GUI Installation will fail and text based installation will appear. Expected Results: ALL Installations, NFS or otherwise, cannot rely on DHCP Services being available at all times. - Many Secure Installations DO NOT OFFER DHCP assigned IP AND DHCP assigned DNS Servers - Yet we continue to take this for granted every time. Need provision for ALL Installations, in this case, NFS Installs, to be able to run in GUI Mode without any DHCP Services being offered.
