Bugzilla – Bug 502058
su in terminal can not start kwrite
Last modified: 2009-07-30 14:28:58 UTC
User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (compatible; Konqueror/4.2; Linux) KHTML/4.2.2 (like Gecko) SUSE Hi, in a konsole when I log in as su I can not start kwrite. Thanks Karl Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. open konsole in KDE 2.su and password 3.kwrite Actual Results: nothing Expected Results: kwrite should open
You need to use kdesu to lauch applications as a substitute user.
This has always been working since I use SuSE. I don't understand why this should not work anymore under 11.2. Is there any reason to break this feature?
.
Sounds like 'su' alone doesn't set the respective X-cookie, 'su -' certainly does, would this be sufficient for you?
Maybe this is related to https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=482749
'su -' works. I can launch KDE applications (dolphin, konqueror, kwrite...) I'ld like to know if this behaviour ('su' doesn't work, 'su -' works) is on purpose, or if this is a bug that needs to be fixed for the 11.2 release? Thanks
(In reply to comment #5) > Maybe this is related to https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=482749 I don't think it's related, my YaST2 works just fine, and they talk about some extra update from some repository that I don't have done.
