Upon every reboot of my OpenSuse system, the sound fails to work.  Restarting alsasound alone doesn't resolve the issue.  I have to actually open up firefox, restart alsasound, close firefox, and then reopen it.  Sounds with firefox and the system then begin to work.

I tried creating a cron job to open firefox, restart alsasound, and close firefox, but this didn't do the trick.

Had issue on OpenSuse 11 and 11.1

Actually, I have found out that some system sounds do work, but most of the time I need it to work with firefox; hence the reason for firefox being open during the restart of alsasound.

This has been seen on multiple boxes, by multiple people......  anyone?

Due to another bug I patched the system.  It appears that somewhere in the update this may have been resolved.  I can retest against the other system when the person is back from maternity leave to prove if it has been resolved or not.

alsasound is no longer the system default, if you see something similar on a supported OS feel free to reopen this.
