after update from 11.1 standart users not add to group audio and not have sound in KDE and Gnome , if i add manualy to this group, sound is work

these permissions are done by ConsoleKit/HAL/DeviceKit framework these days, no need for group membership.

in my system not work sound if i not add user in Audio group, in updates i can now view update for ConsoleKit/HAL/DeviceKit

just installed 11.2 RC2, situation with the sound exactly the same, until manually add a user to the group Audio sound is not working.

Access is granted for locally logged-in users, groups are not used.

How do you log into the box?

What DisplayManager are you using?

How is X started?

localy with console

startx does not integrate with ConsoleKit, and therefore no ACLs are granted.

Access for local users is not supported that way, and you might need the manual group assignment like you did.

Please use a DisplayManager like kdm/gdm for out-of-the-box support.

i no not understant why user not addided to group Audio by installer ? no all users use X with kdm/gdm .....

no normal user belongs into any of these groups by default. any of them could log into the box of over ssh, and listen to the microphone and all such nasty things.

we just do not support all session tracking with startx, you have to use a displaymanager to log in, or put yourself into these groups, if you can take the mentioned risks.
