On my laptop I set up powerdevil to disable desktop effects when on battery.
This worked until a couple weeks ago, but now doesn't.
If you plug/unplug the power cord, the effects are correctly disabled.
If you change to the Performance profile, than back to the Powersave one, the effects are correctly disabled.
But you boot on battery, they are enabled (and shouldn't be).

Reproducible: Always

Same issue but slightly different scenario:

My default PowerDevil scheme has desktop effects disabled. Kwin effects are enabled overall, but upon boot this default scheme should mean they don't start, but they do.

I was running KDE 4.3.1 on openSUSE 11.1 via the Factory repository and this didn't happen, but it does now on 11.2 with the default KDE 4.3.1 install.

Hi there!

I'm helping with a cleanup of KDE bugs that are from obsolete versions or may no longer be valid. This is so the developers can focus on developing openSUSE 11.3

Here is some information about this:

***Are these issues resolved with KDE4.3.5?
Comment 3 Forgotten User tCnyPY8iPq 2010-03-08 12:02:36 UTC
No, it is still an issue even in KDE 4.4.* (from KDE:KDE4:Factory:Desktop).
Comment 4 Forgotten User kHYb7eJGnH 2010-03-08 12:10:55 UTC
Found it upstream at
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=199397
seems there is a fix, not sure where its got to?
Comment 5 Forgotten User tCnyPY8iPq 2010-03-08 12:38:13 UTC
That fix was posted the 30 November 2009.
This is still an issue, so that patch does not fix my problem.

Marco, is this still an issue in newer version of KDE? Did you report it upstream, if so please post the bug number from bugs.kde.org back here.

Thanks

Sorry, I can't test this right now (and for some months).
I didn't report it upstream.
If it works on your laptop, you can close this bug.
I'll reopen it if necessary when I switch to 11.3 in a few months.
