Bugzilla – Bug 555933
Preview of video files from samba shares in dolphin behaves incorrectly
Last modified: 2010-02-19 02:38:53 UTC
User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux x86_64; en-US; rv:1.9.1.4) Gecko/20091016 SUSE/3.5.4-1.1.2 Firefox/3.5.4 When browsing samba shares Dolphin is going crazy if I mark multiple video files. It tries to show me a video-preview, and in order to do that starts to download the corresponding files. Only if previews and tooltips are disabled, browsing shares with big video files becomes comfortable. I suggest, option to disable any previews for remote video files is needed. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Start Dolphin and enable previews or tooltips 2. Open samba share with video files 3. Select several files Actual Results: Dolphin starts to download all this files, using a big part of network bandwidth and cpu resources. Expected Results: Dolphin should download only one file or don't download anything. This bug corresponds to https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=211007 bug in KDE bugtracker
I can confirm this behavior on openSuse 11.1 with the current stable build of KDE 4.3. Actually, disabling Tooltips and Preview in Dolphin's options didn't fix it for me. I additionally had to close the "Information" panel otherwise hovering over a file would immediately spawn a new kio_smb process. This bug is also being discussed in the forums: http://forums.opensuse.org/network-internet/429736-samba-creates-multiple-copies-video-tmp.html
Hi there! I'm helping with a cleanup of KDE bugs that are from obsolete versions or may no longer be valid. This is so the developers can focus on developing openSUSE 11.3 Here is some information about this: http://lists.opensuse.org/opensuse-kde/2010-02/msg00015.html http://en.opensuse.org/KDE/BugSquashing ***As this is reported at kde bugs https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=211007 and they are working on a fix I will mark it as resolved upstream Cheers Steve
