launching a video file (avi - xivd) to be launched in smplayer from Dolphin causes multiple instances of mplayer to be launched in system monitor for a period of approximately twenty seconds causing extremely high CPU load.

The multiple instances of mplayer being launched appear to be caused by the "places" preview thumbnail/player

Disabling the "Places" preview in Dolphin corrects the problem

For normal play usually have two instances of mplayer in system monitor wih only one showing cpu usage.

With "Places" enabled have approx six instances of mplayer with five showing cpu usage.

Reproducible: Always

sorry - have mentioned places panel for the preview but meant the information panel in Dolphin for the preview thumbnails.

Wow, I just noticed that for the first time as well, no idea why it otherwise never happend.
This is very annoying, opening an 720p encoded video this will make my fan spin up immidiatly and make the system crawl, we should disable the preview for videos if possible.
