Last modified: 2010-05-11 12:32:42 UTC
User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (compatible; Konqueror/4.4; Linux) KHTML/4.4.2 (like Gecko) SUSE The installer fails to set the keyboard layout to 'german with dead keys' when the languages remains US english. This can be experienced mainly when setting up custom partition layout or changing kernel boot parameters. Tested on openSUSE-KDE-LiveCD-x86_64-Build0577-Media.iso Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Run openSUSE-11.3 KDE LiveCD x86_64 2. Start installer 3. Set keyboard language to Actual Results: Keyboard remains US english Expected Results: Keyboard is german w. dead keys "setxkbmap de" on a terminal emulator as a workaround for the installation
> "setxkbmap de" on a terminal emulator as a workaround for the installation You start an xterm by pressing Ctrl-Alt-Shift-X and run setxkbmap in this terminal, right? Anyway, the YaST guys need to figure out what's wrong here.
BTW, some days ago I noticed that YaST expects to have package yast2-x11 installed. Otherwise it doesn't run setxkbmap during installation to change the configured keyboard layout immediately. Maybe that package is no longer installed. Who knows ...
