User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; de; rv:1.9.2.6) Gecko/20100626 SUSE/3.6.6-1.2 Firefox/3.6.6

Hello, on my freshly installed opensuse 11.3 x86_64 Desktop-PC I cannot establish a wlan-connection via ifup. I can successfully use the Knetworkmanager. The Device is a Wireless LAN PCI Express Karte 300 MBit 802.11n 2T3R Art.Nr. LogiLink® WL0044. The rt2860sta driver is used by the card.
These are the logs from /var/log/messages when I try to change to ifup.

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
Access Point is a AVM FritzBox WLAN 7270 Router. WPA2PSK is used.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Set the method to ifup and configure the network connection via Yast
2. Wait some minutes (nothing happens)
3. Set the method to Networkmanager, start the Knetworkmanager and establish the connection
Actual Results:
WLAN-Connection only running via Networkmanager

Expected Results:
WLAN-Connection can also be established with ifup at Boot-Time.
Comment 1 Marius Tomaschewski 2010-07-22 12:07:28 UTC
I think, it is the same problem as in bug 623676 (just a newer chipset):

Please append a line with
 WIRELESS_WPA_DRIVER='wext'

to the ifcfg file (/etc/sysconfig/network/ifcfg-wlan0) and restart
the network to try again (rcnetwork restart wlan0) and let me know
if it works better then.

When you don't have a DHCPv6 server in your network, please also
change the BOOTPROTO setting:
   use BOOTPROTO='dhcp4' instead of BOOTPROTO='dhcp'
it will avoid the unneeded start of a dhcpv6-client.
