Bugzilla – Bug 626180
A file at a network location is not treated the same as a file on local filesystem.
Last modified: 2012-11-15 18:09:33 UTC
User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux x86_64; en-US; rv:1.9.2.6) Gecko/20100626 SUSE/3.6.6-1.2 Firefox/3.6.6 In some instances when an attempt to open a file that is not on the local filesystem an error is given. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: CASE 1: 1. Open Mozilla Firefox 2. Navigate to a page with an upload form, and open the browse window 3. Browse to a network location and attempt to select a file. **OR CASE 2: 1, Launch OpenOffice.org 2. Select File > Open 3. Browse to a network (SMB) share and attempt to open .doc file. Actual Results: A file at a network location is not treated the same as a file on local filesystem: " Remote files not accepted You can only select local files" Expected Results: Files on network shares, etc, should be treated the same as local files.
Case 2 (this means OpenOffice) is a duplicate of bug 575182
What is Case 2? I am told "You are not authorized to view case 2"
Case 2 is the problem OpenOffice? Which seems still to exist according to bug 575182. Does the problem with Firefox also still exist with 12.1?
From what I've seen any attempt to access a file which is on a remote location (aka opened by a kio process nfs (not pre-mounted), sftp, ftp, smb result in a message, only local file are supported. Will give a screen shot
Created attachment 474060 [details] No remote file can be selected by a gtk application under kde4 Trying to pick a remote file on non kde apps lead to "you can only select local files"
Sorry forget to set the needinfo with the attachment
Ok as written above, this is basically a duplicate of bug 575182 *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 575182 ***
