Description Forgotten User Dri3u-jOsE 2010-09-16 12:50:56 UTC
User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux x86_64; de; rv:1.9.2.3) Gecko/20100401 SUSE/3.6.3-1.2 Firefox/3.6.3

Missing characters:
§ ß ä Ä ö Ö ü Ü °

Wrong characters:
Shift-7 gives ? instead of /
Shift-' (left of <=) gives ~ instead of `
Shift-' (left of CR) gives " instead '

But Shift-6 Shift-7 correctly gives &/

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Started a VNC server with "vncserver" on the 11.3 system
2. Connected via "vncviewer" from an 11.2 system
3. Both systems with german keybord maps and keyboards

Works correctly if the Xvnc is running on an 11.2 system.
Actual Results:
see above

Expected Results:
see above

The bug also shows up when I use a VNC server login started by xinetd (and enabled remote administration by VNC).

Does it work when you connect to the 11.3 Xvnc from an 11.3 vncviewer?

How's the result when you replace Xvnc on 11.3 with the xorg-x11-Xvnc package from http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/X11:/Utilities/openSUSE_11.3/ and then connect to it from 11.2?

works only slightly better, ä and Ä reappeared, but the rest is still as described.

At least in the moment, there is no such package there.

The package search claims to find the original xorg-x11-Xvnc in openSUSE:11.3/standard and

xorg-x11-Xvnc-7.5_1.8.0-58.5.i586.rpm
xorg-x11-Xvnc-7.5_1.8.0-58.5.x86_64.rpm

in X11:XOrg/openSUSE_11.3, but these are not actually there - "Object not found!"

Regards

Michael

I did some test with different keyboard layouts chosen at installation.
In my virtual machine, i installed several opensuse 11.3:
    - 2 times german language and german keyboard
    - 2 times english language and english keyboard
Now, the result testing vncserver is:
    - english to english system works fine
    - english to german system works fine
    - german to english does NOT work
    - german to german does not work
I also tried a connection from my windows system (german keyboard) with thight vnc version 1.3.10. This did neither work with a german suse nor with the english suse.

for me that looks like a dublicate of Bug 400520. Can somebody confirm that?

Yes, I think so. Please reopen if not.
