Last modified: 2011-01-31 11:07:07 UTC
User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 6.0; en-US; rv:1.9.2.13) Gecko/20101203 Firefox/3.6.13 ( .NET CLR 3.5.30729; .NET4.0C) OpenSUSE 11.4 Milestone6 LiveCD - doesn't boot Image has been written to USB stick using ImageWriter. I tried making USB stikc both in Windows and OpenSUSE - no difference Mounting Live boot drive... Could not find Liv eimage configuration file reboot exception: error consoles at Alt-F3/F4 reboot exception: reboot in 120 sec. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Make LiveCD USB stick 2. Try to boot from Live CD stick 3. Actual Results: OpenSUSE Milestone6 LiveCD doesn't boot from LiveCD USB stick. OpenSUSE 11.3 and previous install of 11.4 Factory are working fine on this computer. Expected Results: LiveCD should boot :)
Same problem with 11.4 Milestone6 GNOME LiveCD-i686. (first attempt was with KDE LiveCD - i686)
Same problem with burned CD (KDE and Gnome).
Looks to me as either bug in IMageWriter or in mastering of the image...
It is on the most annoying bug list for MS6 since release. you can either use MS5 LiveCDs from http://mirror.zq1.de/opensuse/11.4-MS5/ or newer Build1038 from http://download.opensuse.org/factory/iso/ *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 666504 ***
I also have setup of OpenSUSE 11.4 Factory, and latest update (#zypper up) brought up kernel 2.6.37 (not RC) System doesn't boot with that kernel, but boots fine with previous kernel 2.6.37-RC5. If latest MS5 has latest kernel - this can affect LiveCD too.
Yes, current Factory still has same kernel as MS6, so there could be another problem with the kernel. in that case, a more precise description of the setup+error and/or a kernel log would be nice... but better in a separate bugzilla entry.
I am ready to provide kernel log. Just tel me how to get it - if system doens't boot from LiveCD, I can't get even text login: Would dmesg from existing installation help?
