After updating from 11.3 to 11.4 there was 'intellegacy' set up as video driver (i am using laptop with Intel 965 chipset)in /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/.
With this driver I could not start GTK apps (such as Firefox, Thunderbird, Chromium etc.). Starting them caused X-server to crash (with no useful information in Xorg.0.log, ~/.xsession-errors and application console output).
Switching video driver to 'intel' solved this problem.

Reproducible: Always

Just tried on Intel 855 and this trouble is also actual.
I can use 'intel' driver on Intel 965, but on Intel 855 it works very slow. 'intellegacy' works faster but causes X-server to crash.

Also I have tested it on both i586 and x86_64 systems.

With intel drivers I get solid borders around all icons when running gtk apps over ssh -X
see: https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=679730

intellegacy in /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/50-device.conf keeps restarting GDM continuously. Had added nomodeset, NO_KMS_IN_INITRD and rebuilt initrd.

There are no plans to fix *any* remaining bugs in "intellegacy" driver. It's no longer developed since years now. Kirill, what do you mean with intel being "very slow" exactly? Please also attach /var/log/Xorg.0.log for intel driver in place.

Kirill, still no response after more than 5 months. Please reopen once you can provide the requested feedback. Thanks.
