Installation Logs

User-Agent:       Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:7.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/7.0

Installation hangs -
after YaST2 is started the installation does not make any progress 
( used cputime on my system approximate 4 min ) 

I can boot this system, but there was no boot record written,
no user have been setup. 

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Install openSUSE on an Opteron 275 system with NVIDIA NVS 275
2.
3.


Expected Results:  
Successful installation.

Are you still running the installer under X or are you back on the console when this occurs? If the latter happens, can you check the Xorg logs whether X has segfaulted?

Sorry, I do not understand when did this happen: really on the start of the installation, just after the boot? Did you see any of YaST screens?

Or was it actually installed, but the installation is not complete?

Your second statement is correct -

I am able to boot the installed system and get to the login screen
but I am not able to login 

I had a look at /etc/passwd but no 
USER "winfrid" was set up
