HP Proliant Microserver will not boot from a known working openSUSE 11.3 Gnome live USB stick
Last modified: 2011-11-14 09:21:08 UTC
+++ This bug was initially created as a clone of Bug #727238 +++ User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; WOW64; rv:7.0.1) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/7.0.1 I have a problem where my nice new HP Proliant Microserver will not boot from a known working openSUSE 11.3 Gnome live USB stick. As recommended I have built a bootable LiveUSB stick using a newer Kiwi. I infact I used Suse Studio to create a openSUSE 11.4 Gnome liveCD image. This LiveUSB stick boots my Lenovo laptop bit not the HP Microserver. The HP Microserver boots to Suse Studio screen, I enter kiwidebug=1, screen goes to text, then back to suse studio flash screen then the screen loses signal! - no debug logs available. It's going to take a while before I gain sufficient skills to create a LiveUSB stick from scratch using KIWI. It's a shame you guys can't blag one of these servers from HP as they are really neat! I'm using them with Openfiler as a Nas & also using one as a UTM/Firewall using Untangle. They only cost ~ £100 as HP offer a £100 refund with every purchase!! http://h20195.www2.hp.com/v2/GetPDF.aspx/4AA2-4495EEW.pdf (I do not work for HP or have any financial interest in them)
