Description Zsolt Sági 2011-12-01 11:33:17 UTC
User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:8.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/8.0

I observed some weird problems in YaST (at least in QT-yast) when using in Hungarian:

-When using the connection wizard of the printer module, I could not choose any printer driver, because the search list was totally empty.

-I could not add a dialin (POTS modem) connection, because YaST was unable to save the modem device, phone number, etc. It soved some defaults instead.

However, after running (ncurses) yast in root console (unlocalized), the modules got virtually fixed.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Create a fresh install of openSUSE 12.1. Use the Hungarian language/localization during setup (other languages may probably suffice as well).
2. Start QT-YaST from KDE (make sure it runs localized).
3. Try to add a network-capable printer via IP (I used a JetDirect one) using yast-printer's connetcion wizard.
4. Try to add a plain dialin modem connection with a manually defined ISP.
Actual Results:
Stochastic anomalies.

Expected Results:
YaST should run normally, like unlocalized.

Could you please attach yast logs?

Here it is.
Comment 4 Johannes Meixner 2011-12-13 07:53:22 UTC
The issue "could not choose any printer driver, because
the search list was totally empty" is probably unrelated
to localization but actually a duplicate of bug #727911

I am not the right assignee for localization issues or any kind of
generic YaST issue (if I should provide info, better use "needinfo")
so that I re-re-assign it back to yast2-maintainers@suse.de

In the above attachment #466155 [details]
the files y2log-3.gz and y2log-4.gz contain "lpinfo: Unknown"
which indicate that the printer setup issue of this bug
is really a duplicate of bug #727911

Okay, marking as duplicate.

*** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 727911 ***

Tamás Németh,
if you can reproduce the modem issue, you may file a new
separated bug report (and attach up-to-date yast logs anew), see
http://en.opensuse.org/openSUSE:Submitting_bug_reports
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
When reporting a bug, please use one report for each defect you want
to report. Using a single bug report to address several problems at once
is really not a good idea because it makes it difficult to track the
progress on each item.
