Bugzilla – Bug 739823
Fix for KDE crashing bug should be backported
Last modified: 2012-01-06 08:48:50 UTC
User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:9.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/9.0 I get hit by the following crashing bug almost every time I log out: https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=275286 I usually just click ‘Close’ and be done with it, but this I decided to let DrKonqi figure out if it was a known bug. And it turned out to be very well known, with tons of duplicate reports. And apparently fixed in KDE 4.7.4. But not in openSUSE. One of the more recent comments in the bug is: There is no need for intermediate fixes as this has been properly fixed for a while by now, just look at the bug status. For some reason the fix doesn't get shoved to the distros, therefore we still see bug reports from Ubuntu and SuSe. It feels like distros want to display KDE in the worst possible light (and KDE doesn't miss a chance to help them). Because of the large number of duplicate bug reports and votes, I request the fix be backported the official openSUSE packages. The fix is only a few lines: https://projects.kde.org/projects/kde/kde-workspace/repository/revisions/77b1374b99ee91d23d8802dd1dec9a5f630e919a/diff This bug report is based on the discussion on the openSUSE users’ mailing list at: http://lists.opensuse.org/opensuse/2011-12/msg01183.html Reproducible: Sometimes Steps to Reproduce: 1. Log out. Actual Results: Crash. Expected Results: No crash.
Already reported in bug 736725. A package which includes the fix is available in the KDE:Distro:Stable repo. It would be great if you could test the package and give a feedback in the other report so that the fixed package can be released as an online update. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 736725 ***
