Bugzilla – Bug 765668
Second phase of system installation starts in text mode
Last modified: 2012-07-07 19:55:20 UTC
User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 5.1) AppleWebKit/537.1 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/21.0.1163.0 Safari/537.1 During openSUSE 12.2 Beta 1 installation, while the first part (software installation) is normally performed through the classic GTK-based GUI, the second part (system configuration) starts in fall-back text mode. At system restart, before system configuration, GRUB2 complains that: "VGA=0x332 is deprecated. Use set gfxpayload=896x672x24,896x672 before linux command instead." Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Install openSUSE 12.2 beta 1 on VMware Workstation Player 2. Wait for system configuration dialog box prompting for Hostname and Domain Name, which is displayed in text mode. Actual Results: System configuration steps done in ncurses-based fallback mode. Expected Results: The system installation should be completely performed through GTK-based GUI.
HI,thank you for your report.could you please help to provide y2logs according to the following URL?Thank you:) http://en.opensuse.org/openSUSE:Bugreport_YaST
Sorry my description was incomplete. I'll try to capture the logs you need, but before of that, I missed to report that right after the software package installation completes, a dialog box in GUI installer appears, reporting that: (dialog box title) An error occurred during initrd creation. (dialog box message) Perl-Bootloader 2012-06-12 01:02:31 ERROR: Core::ReadFiles: Failed to open /boot/grub2/device.map. Can't use an undefined value as a HASH reference at /usr/lib/perl5/vendor_perl/5.14.2/Bootloader/Core/GRUB2.pm line 1023. There was an error generating initrd (2)
This issue is now fixed in 12.2 Beta 2.
Thanks for the checking beta2.
