Bugzilla – Bug 784757
memtest on 12.2 media reports errors on good RAM
Last modified: 2012-10-29 12:09:40 UTC
See https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=773569 for details. Publishing fixed ISOs is very unlikely, so the best solution is probably to document it in the release notes. Proposed text (Torsten, please improve as needed): memtest on the openSUSE 12.2 media is broken and reports errors in test 7 on good RAM modules. Use the openSUSE 12.1 media if you need to run memtest.
Thanks for the draft that I mostly like to reuse. Here is my proposal: <title>Pre-installation Memory Test Incorrectly Identifies Good Memory as Bad</title> <para> The pre-installation memory test (memtest) on the openSUSE 12.2 media is broken. It reports errors in test 7 on good RAM modules. Use the openSUSE 12.1 media if you need to run memtest. </para> ========================================================================= It is rather urgent if we want to publish it with the blocked bug 784364.
This is the version, I'll now hand out for translations: <sect2> <!-- bnc#784757 --> <title>Pre-installation Memory Test Incorrectly Identifies Good Memory as Bad</title> <para> The pre-installation memory test (<command>memtest</command>) on the openSUSE 12.2 media is broken. It reports errors in test 7 on good RAM modules. Use the openSUSE 12.1 media if you need to run <command>memtest</command>. </para> </sect2> ========================================================================= Fixed in SVN.
[back from vacation] s/is broken/got miscompiled/g; if you like.
(In reply to comment #3) > [back from vacation] > s/is broken/got miscompiled/g; > if you like. Thanks, sounds better. Submitted to the SVN (and updated on the translation server).
